Tom has over 12 years of experience as an accountant working across audit, forensic accounting, W&I insurance underwriting and claims. He specialises in financial investigations, business valuation and accounting breach analysis.

Since 2021, Tom has led the C. Lewis practice area for breach of warranty (‘W&I’) and professional negligence claims and disputes, and has advised on claims totalling over £300m in aggregate value so far.

Tom has advised on claims and disputes across the following industry sectors: Telecoms, IT Services, Facilities Management, Consumer Goods, Logistics, Software and AI, Financial Institutions, Tourism, Real Estate, Retail, Pharma, Healthcare and Manufacturing. He has also advised on claims involving numerous types of breach, including: Breach of Broker’s Duty of Care, Warranted Financial Statements and Management Accounts, Accounting Records, Material Contracts, Information/disclosure Warranties, Replies to Enquiries, Regulatory Reporting, Compliance with Law, Product Liability.

Tom’s practice is not limited to claims under English law. He has also advised on claims under the laws of Denmark, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Canada.

From 2018 to 2020, Tom worked at a major London market insurer, where he was involved in (and often leading) the underwriting of W&I insurance for large M&A transactions (often in the £100m – £1bn range). He gained significant exposure to valuation approaches, buyer strategy and decision-making in respect of price determination for these deals.
